Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
Chadwell Elementary implements the PBIS framework. This school-wide approach focuses on building a safe and positive environment in which all students can learn.
PBIS includes school-wide expectations for all areas of the school (hallway, cafeteria, bus, playground, bathroom, classroom, gym, assemblies.) Students earn rewards and incentives when they demonstrate being respectful, responsible, and being ready to learn throughout the school building.
PBIS has shown to help in the following ways:
- Reductions in major disciplinary infractions
- Reductions in aggressive behavior and improvements in emotional regulation
- Improvements in academic engagement and achievement
- Improvements in perceptions of school climate
